The Southern Comfort is a
double-deck paddle boat purpose built for the Broads with a capacity of
100 passengers for public trips or private hire.
Our boat is a luxury river cruiser which runs
regular trips from the beautiful village of Horning, along the River
Bure through the village and out to Ranworth Broad and back, passing
lovely old thatched houses, windmills and Norfolk reed beds. Throughout
the trip there is an excellent commentary and continual pointing out of
all the water birds around at the time. There is the ever present
bustle of river traffic with cruisers, yachts and the occasional wherry.
PUBLIC TRIPS
These are either one and a half or two hour
duration (please go
to PUBLIC TRIPS
and see the table for sailing times and prices). The upper
deck has seating for 68 passengers and provides excellent views across
the reed beds - the lower deck has a plush lounge seating 46 and also
has a fully stocked bar at reasonable prices. Snacks, souvenirs
and freshly made tea and coffee are available throughout each
tour. There are toilets on the vessel. Wheelchairs are
welcome and can be wheeled aboard. Group discounts are offered, telephone booking
is strongly recommended however small the number of people.
PRIVATE HIRE
Whatever the celebration i.e..
Wedding Reception, Office Function, Birthday Party or Social Club
outing,
SOUTHERN COMFORT is an excellent
venue.
Hire charges are reasonable
(please see PRIVATE
HIRE ) and while we offer a choice of menu and music, the hirer may
provide their own if they wish at no extra charge. We do ask that the hirer uses our
bar. There is a wide range of beers, wines and spirits at pub
prices and tea and coffee are always available. Hire charges vary
throughout the season and early booking is advised.
